You only have my word here, but I assure you this not a scam. We are real people who have fallen on some really hard times and WE NEED HELP! There is no way to put this delicately. I’m sorry.
I guess the best place is to start with an introduction. 🙂
My name is Cheryl . I am 52 and I am married to Ron who is 59. We live in Florida and we share our modest home (a mobile home) with three cats and a dog. We bought our home right before we left a good job working in property management with the hope of slowing down, just a bit. We are not getting younger, and R in particular was having trouble with the physical demands of his position.
We didn’t expect not to be able to find jobs nor could we have imagined the freefall into poverty but that is exactly what happened.
The situation we find ourselves in is not from lack of trying.
We are nice, ordinary folks in our 50s. We have life experience and solid job skills. We have resumes that are sent out regularly. We are both creatively inclined and have talents that compliment the other. We are hardworking, dependable and resourceful. And still, we have literally fallen through the cracks somehow.
This ordeal has been absolutely horrific and it gets worse every day. I can honestly say that this has been the worst eighteen months of my life ( specifically) with no relief in sight. With the exception of our home, and it’s only through the grace of God that we still have that, we have literally lost everything else including most of our dignity.
This isn’t about NOT having anything EXTRA, this is about having NOTHING. Like not having the money to do laundry or to have our trash picked up. It has truly gotten that bad.
With that said, I bring you this blog and our story. I reaize by doing so we are making ourselves even more vulnerable to unneeded harrassment and rebuke. At the same time, I believe that there are still more good people in this world than there are bad. Besides, at this point, we really don’t feel that we have much choice but to appeal to the masses in the best way we know how.
All we can do is share our story and hopefully enlighten some, and inspire others. With any luck, we’ll even make some friends in the process. We need them too!

I don’t normally respond to random likers as most are just in it for stats, but presuming this is real (not too trusting of WP these days), I am no different than you and yours, except my body fell apart. I normally write on my health so probably not of much interest, but swing by if bored. Wish I could put recipes up but I live off huge, cheap bags of basmati rice from the Indian market (and look like a skeleton, too!). I’m starving according to the doc–really? In America? No! I lived in the 3rd world before I got sick 12 yrs ago and wasn’t starving there! Ha ha. Have to keep laughing or you’ll call it a day. Food for thought–pun intended.
My post tonight (I’m nocturnal) was probably my last due to what occurred on WP. We’ll see… Take care. Sun’s up so have to try to sleep now! 🙂

Thanks, but I don’t have a private e-mail address. I’ve tried a million times w/Gmail (can’t see in there) and to transfer it to Outlook, but Outlook defaults everything to my full name due to my primary e-mail and can’t do that in this day and age. See, was going to go to sleep, but no! Stupid disease! Really going now…

I understand your situation completely. I was laid off from a government job that I had for fifteen years. At the same time I was having a house built. I went through bankruptcy, lost my home and truck to the bank. I now work at a minimum wage job and spend time with friends who are, or were homeless. I can give them a few bus tickets, a sandwich and a coffee. One good deed at a time, one person at a time.
I wish you well, I know how hard it is.

Hi Dennis: Thank you for commenting. It is only through communication that we can truly understand eachother. What you are doing, IS what my husband does ( did do) on a regular basis when he was able. I think it’s GREAT!

Wow, your blog has changed a lot since I was last here. Thank you for the like on my post (I have sooo many fake followers–hate them!). Much appreciation. I had sort of stopped blogging and a WP friend pulled me back yesterday, as I did to her once. It’s hard for us with health problems (and money problems!). I have to go to bed as I’m the nocturnal one (hate it!) but will check back tomorrow (today) I hope–sorry for the absence. I haven’t been checking on anyone lately due to my health.

Many blessings to you. I was never planning to put this on a blog but feel the need to share with you… I totally understand your situation. I too have lost a job, after 30 years with an organization, and have been unable to get a job in the last 18 months. In the meantime, God has told me to write a book and start a ministry. Still no income nor any donations as I still do not have our 501c3 and just living off of what the Lord gives me and my children through my family. Still waiting on the book to be released and praying that it will be a “best seller”. However, I have also pledged to give away the majority of the proceeds to help victims of abuse.The last several years have been a test of faith for me and my children. We walk in faith everyday that God will provide all of our needs. So, I am a totally understanding of your situation and will be praying for you as well. God says that He is our Provider.. Hang on to that promise and many more as you walk in Faith!! May God bless you exceedingly and abundantly….

hi, i can relate to your situation. i lost my job in dec. 2009 and have not worked a 9-5 since. i pet sit but does not really pay the bills, my passion for animals was renewed and became an animal welfare advocate. the silver lining is i am really happy now and have been on a spiritual journey that is totally fascinating. i have learned a lot of life lessons over the past several years. my motto is things happen for a reason. i do not always understand what the reason is immediately but i usually get it eventually. maybe life is trying to tell you something now. i hope your situation gets better soon. and thanks for following my blog, touch of home pet care. look for the silver lining! thanks
Thank you for your nice comment. On October 27, 2013, it has been two years for us. I mean , there has been some income BUT like you. Not 9-5 wages of any sort. It’s been been quite an adventure for me too. Lots of valuable lessons. I worked in property which is very capitalistic in nature and it was ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. That was hard, especially once the economy took a dive and I was strong arming people, evicting , etc. knowing that the majority of people, would have paid if they could. Anyway, I’d like to think I am a kinder soul because of these past few years. I know I’ve changed! 🙂 Again thank you. PS I am an animal lover too, and long time activist. 🙂
