Arrifa’s Questions for Me: ( Whew, you’re going make me work for the award, are you? Smiles )

1) Why did you feel the need to start a blog?

Short Answer … All But Homeless was created out of genuine need. However, I have been journaling for many years, and have filled box up upon box, house upon house with my ramblings. At first, blogging, offered a ‘safe’, effective medium for self-expression. It was only later that I discovered that I may just have something interesting to say! πŸ˜‰

2) Sunsets or Sunrises? Sunrises

3) What is the last good movie that you have seen? The World’s Oldest Indian with Anthony Hopkins

4) How would you describe compassion?

Awareness of ones suffering and a desire not only to empathize but to act on it if it is within the realm of possibility.

5) What is your favorite animal and why?

This is hard, as I am a humaniac by nature but I do seem to relate well with cats (I think) because of the similarities of our respective personalities.

6) What is your favorite movie quote?

Well… I love quotes and there are many but the following comes to mind again and again when I am dealing with someone (particularly, someone near and dear to me) who I perceive to be acting out in a self- destructive manner. I may not VOICE it but I damned sure think it. 😦 My ex happened to be one of those.

” It’s so easy for you to die dramatically! It’s a hell of a lot tougher for those of us who have to keep on trying!’ ( Jean played by Deloris Taylor, Billy Jack, 1971)

7) What is your ideal vacation?

A long weekend at the Beach.

8) What was your childhood dream?

To be a published author.

9) If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d love to be a genie because how awesome it would be to go around granting heartfelt wishes.

10) Do you enjoying dancing, even if you think you don’t know how? Absolutely! Cha Cha Cha!

Seed of Light Award

An Award for blogs that inspire creativity, nature, connection,
communication and beauty… Pass it On…”

Very nice. πŸ™‚ I was nominated for this lovely award by the lovely Jade of Jade’s Jungle. What can I say about Jade? Jade is a self-published author of 12-Days -The Beginning and is now working on the sequel.

Her blog is much about that journey, but she also shares tidbits about her life, as well as technology and more. Though a serious writer, she is amazingly down-to-earth. I love her kind spirit, and great sense of humor.

Thank you so much Jade. I gratefully accept and will gladly pass it on as there are so many brilliant bloggers out there deserving of this award.

My seven (7) nominations represent just a few that I have come across. TRULY! πŸ™‚

Belbror’s Pix

Hammer Home-Lower Hamilton

Walking with the Alligators

Devan’s Posed and Witten

Dennis Cardiff – Poetry and Prose

Journey of Mixed Emotions

Enjoy your Awards. Congrats!

Sowing this seed is easy. 1) Thank the person who nominated you. 2) Nominate at least 5 blogs( or bloggers) and provide links to their blogs. 3) Notify each on their nomination.

Award Week at All But Homeless :)

In the past several months, I ( or this blog ) have been nominated for several awards from at least four different bloggers. Today I make mention of these awesome individuals because I am quite thankful for the gestures and feel honored. At the same time , I feel unworthy as I am the worst about carrying out the acceptance obligations associated with the nominations. My only excuse ( and I am not even sure it’s a good one ) is that I have been so wrapped up in this fundraising effort, and surviving day-to-day that I can’t much concentrate on anything else.

This coming week, I am going to put forth an extra special effort to get through at least some of these award obligations. As I truly want to officially accept.

In the meantime, I wish to make mention of these fine bloggers, with a heartfelt thanks and an apology ( for my lack of attentiveness to these honors ) to each.

AGAIN, thank you so VERY much. If, I’ve forgotten anyone. Please let me know. It wasn’t my intent. πŸ™‚ I promise you.

Accepting Belsbros’ Restorative Blessing

Words cannot express ( but of course I will attempt πŸ™‚ ) what this particular award means to me today. Thank you Belsbros! I most gratefully accept as I need its restorative representation in my life today. How did you know? it really means so much to me.

Please correct me if I wrong, but it is my understanding that the only requirement for acceptance is to pass it on to others. And I plan to do just that.

I have a few nominations in mind which I will contend with later today BUT I believe the inner peace award is a gift to anyone who might desire it or need it ( as I did ) or if you happen to know another who might need a lift in spirit.

So please enjoy!

By now, most of you have heard our story and know that we are trying to raise funds to help us recover from financial ruin. When I created this blog just over two months ago, I had no idea how successful it would be, all I knew is that it offered hope at the lowest point in our lives.

We needed ( need) help! And like the old saying goes, ‘if you don’t ask, the answer will always be no.’

I had also hoped the blog would offer something to others as well. To send a message, to educate, inspire, to instill hope in someone who might be facing similar challenges.

I also knew that telling our story here would be cathartic. I just never knew how cathartic it would be. πŸ™‚

Well this journey has thus far been amazing and I am not just talking about the fundraising aspect of it. I have ‘met’ the most wonderful , caring people on this planet and for you all, I am grateful. I don’t know what I expected honestly.

And I am learning more and more about myself every day.

When this all began, things were what seemed hopeless. I have always been a spiritual person, but my faith waned. I was always a nice person, but I was angry at our situation and I internalized it. To say, I was disappointed at everyone in my life, IS really putting it quite mildly.

I could go on and on. But I hope I made my point.

NO, we are not out of the woods yet. Some days are better others. Inner peace settles in sometimes, and just as I cozy up with it, someone ( or a set back of some kind ) threatens to take it from me.

I begin struggling again, doubting mostly.

Sometimes, this entire recovery process overwhelms me. And in these darker moments, I can see why some just GIVE UP. In these moments I realize that I only thought I knew what it was to be a survivor.

BUT I don’t want to give up. I want this to be a subsistence to success story. I want to be whole, in every sense, to help others in the process ( to pay it forward ) where I see opportunity.

And mostly, I see all these things probable!

Again tho, sometimes it’s really really HARD!

Thank you Belbror, for giving me a boost this morning. I so desperately needed it after a few rough days.

~ God Bless
