9 days left in August!

And we still have some VERY real NEEDS that NEED to be met.

The hope is to raise another $1000.00 in this fundraising effort , and preferably this month.

More specifically —-

Our mortgage payment is due on the 16th of each and every month in the amount of $431.87 ( but we have through the end of the month before it is considered late) August’s payment has not been paid yet and as always, keeping a roof over our head remains HIGH PRIORITY!

There are other needs as well, which our outlined here

IF you’d like to help with a specific need or would like to pay directly to a specific entity, please let me know.

I’d like to think I was realistic in my initial goal of $3000.00. What I underestimated, was the time it would take raise it. As life happens, the NEEDS shift and change IS the BEST way I can put this! And as deadlines close in, the stress levels GO UP. I ask forgiveness in advance for any angst showing in my posts. 🙂

Anyway, we still really need your support and continued support.

Thank you ALL for the support we have received and continue to receive. … You all have been amazingly helpful in these four months.

PAY PAL is PREFERRED for a couple of reasons. 1) Funds are transferred in REAL TIME giving us immediate access. 2) My mortgage holders have an pay pal account and I can transfer directly to them from my pay pal account. 3) The donations are easier to keep track of with their statement system.

If you would like to donate via pay-pal, please click here.( you will be directed to our personal website where you will find a button for paypal. ) Click on it to donate any amount )

You can also help us at GoFundMe.com

You can also mail your donations. Our address can be found in the side bar.

I have some errands to run this morning but I wanted to get this posted BECAUSE it is SO very important!

Thanks AGAIN!

God Bless and have a wonderful day!

I struggle …

Yes, I am overwhelmed with my situation and I am struggling with putting myself out here like this.

It’s not in my nature to cry poor mouth. Truly it isn’t. And I still cringe at the prospect. At the same time, I know I don’t have much choice if I hope to keep our heads above water and a roof over our head. There is no room for pride or embarrassment in our predicament.

Afterall, we are All but Homeless.

I can compare this to having a job that I hate. And what I wouldn’t give to have a job ( even if a hated it) if it would afford us self-sufficiency.

I could also compare this site, and all it stands for, to a form of pan handling. A cowardly form at that I guess.

A blogging buddy at: http://gottafindahome.wordpress.com said it best yesterday.

“Panhandlers aren’t out there because they want to be . They’re out there because otherwise they’d starve.”

I can relate to this and for the first time in my life!

But do you know what the difference between myself and a panhandler is?

While THEY PUT THEMSELVES WAY out there, every single day I get to hide in my home behind locked doors, away from any real danger, out the elements, and away from people that IF it was in their power, they’d simply remand the panhandler to another planet if only to keep from having to look at them. No one can humilate me further by spitting, cursing, or throwing something at me either. But panhandlers face this every day.

I couldn’t do it! And to think I once thought myself better.

SO SAD , truly!

But still if I am going to survive this , I am going to need another layer of skin. The skin I wear presently in wearing thin fast. Does that make any sense?

I realistically knew when I created this blog that this project would be a long, slow, painful process! I just didn’t know how long, slow and painful it would be.

I only wish that someone, who believed in prevention ( and was in a position to help) on more than a passive level would come along and see something in us that was redeemable .

Please don’t get me wrong every little bit helps and I am truly grateful BUT we really need is someone to pull us out of the fire and stop the bleeding once and for all.

What makes us more deserving than anyone else? NOTHING REALLY!

I can only appeal to those who may happen upon this post. To tell them that our need is genuine.

The only promise I can make it that if and as soon as it were possibe, I would pay any blessing given us forward which has always been my practice anyway.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Thank you and as always, God Bless…

Friday Update ( recap of this last week)

The week, started out rather dismally. Rain was in the forecast, and the weather people did not disappoint. I love rain, but it’s really bad for our second-hand goods business ( or what is left of it) . The only way to drive traffic our way is to put about 200 square feet of merchandise OUT front in the weather, whatever that might be. At the first sign of rain, my husband scrambles to get it packed up and inside again. With everything inside, no one even knows we are there, generally. Besides, with everything back in the store, it’s really not safe to have customers walking about because of the trip and fall hazard, especially with no lights on inside. The skylights help some but it’s still kind of dim especially in an overcast condition.

The thrift store is located in one of those warehouse complexes with storefronts on the front row. You actually have to come into the complex to do business there. I mean it’s not one of those strip malls or easy in and out situation.

During the season, the place is bustling with traffic. But now that the season has ended, there are only three of us there trying to do business. An older gent on the opposite end, is a retired para-legal. He moon lights doing business forms, divorces and taxes — by appointment. There is also a dog groomer right next to us, but she is only coming in a few days a week now that most of her customers ( snow birds) have gone north again…

Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, things got a bit brighter which helped with day-to-day incidentals. Sadly no bills got paid AGAIN and they are beginning to stack up overwhelmingly.

My morning began with an email to the people who hold our mortgage asking for yet another extension. We were paying by the week up until a month ago, and we have not been able to pay them since. The hope was to come up with a month’s payment by today, but so far it hasn’t happened. Thankfully the wife was nice about it. Not to say she doesn’t have her moments, BUT generally I must say they have helped us more than anyone else involved, despite the fact that as of December 31, 2012, we were $2500.00 in arrears with them for 2012.. . I got that figure from a tax statement they sent me. I am also keeping track of payments on a spread sheet. I think that figure might be slightly less considering we had been pretty diligent with those weekly payments for several months. Anyway, the last check I gave them for $125.00 for the week cleared my bank on March 26th.

But at least they gave us few more days to figure this out and I am grateful for the timely reprieve.

So that’s it for now. Perhaps, today will be the day that things turn around for us. As always, we live in faith.
