Sometimes I forget…

forgetNO

YES my friends, while immersed in the merciful respite that blogging offers me. In my friendly interactions with all of you that I so enjoy. In utilizing these glorious tools at my avail that keep my creative juices flowing, my hands busy, and mind from going numb. All for which I am TRULY GRATEFUL for, I forget ( at least temporarily) the gravity of our situation and that the primary purpose of this blog is to try to raise funds to help us in our situation.

Even the deluge of sad news coming out of Oklahoma is a distraction somehow, except in a different way ofcourse. But at least, it puts things in perspective, takes me out of myself and my own neediness, to remember that I have a compassionate side, too. Afterall, my home is not torn to shreads, I have not lost family, friends or beloved pets in such a tragically sudden event. I can’t even imagine the HELL those people went through, are still going through.

My losses are thankfully more material although relationships have been strained, over time, but still a slow and agonizing process! And we are just two people, in a sea of neediness. Does that make us any less worthy of assistance?

YES there are still those moments when I feel a CASUALTY somehow. Banished to the bottom of of humanity’s list of priorities. Just out of sight of those who might be willing or able to help me IF NOT for this more URGENT call from Oklahoma.

Just as it feels when seeking out public assistance, or help from local agencies.

GOD FORGIVE ME for these selfish thoughts!

BUT it’s like this ….

DO YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN, LIVING IN THE HOME? NO.

ARE YOU A SENIOR CITIZEN? NO.

ARE YOU RECEIVING DISABILITY PAYMENTS? NO

IF I WERE, I’D BE ABLE TO PAY MY BILLS and WOULDN’T BE HERE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY HEALTH LIMITATIONS THAT KEEP YOU FROM STANDING ON YOUR FEET ALL DAY WITH A PICK AX IN YOUR HAND ?

WELL I WOULDN’T KNOW BECAUSE I CAN’T AFFORD TO SEE A PHYSICIAN.

ARE YOU ONLINE? YES, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE IF YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR ANYTHING.

BUT, IF YOU ARE COMPUTER LITERATE, certainly YOU ARE SMART enough to FIND WORK AND WHY ARE YOU HERE IF YOU HAVE INTERNET ACCESS? INTERNET, is NOT a NECCESITY!

DO YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF INCOME?

YES, WE OWN A THRIFTSTORE BUT ARE PRESENTLY OPERATING AT A LOSS.

OHHHH?

ARE YOU SUFFERING from MENTAL ILLNESS?

NO! BUT I’M BORDERLINE !

ARE YOU ADDICTED TO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL? NO!

ARE YOU RECEIVING FOOD ASSISTANCE? NO!

ARE YOU HOMELESS? NO , NOT YET!

DID YOUR HOUSE JUST GET RIPPED IN HALF? NO!

IM SORRY MRS DE—, BUT BASED ON YOUR ANSWERS YOU DON’T QUALIFY FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES AT THIS TIME, BUT FEEL FREE TO REAPPLY ONCE YOU ARE HOMELESS, BECOME CRAZY, OR ARE DIAGNOSED WITH A TERMINAL ILLNESS!

  1. Am not surprised how governments use the bureaucratic red tape to turn away their needy citizens. Same here in our country, so we have only ourselves to rely on. I do hope and pray that you’ll overcome your present difficulties. God bless.

    • Hello my friend. Thanks for commenting.

Yes, statistically, we fall into some gray void, we’ve been told. The agencies that would like to help, are overwhelmed and can’t afford to .

We are accessed penalities for TRYING to support ourselves through enterprise.

Family, the ones who could help won’t, because they are just well enough off not to be able to relate, OR can’t see beyond their backyard swimming pool.. Ironicially those who have helped are the least likely, or least able to.

And so, I rely not only on myself, my talents BUT also on the goodness of LIKE -MINDED individuals through my online networking .

The alternative, IS to panhandle, beg door to door, become a criminal OR be put in a position to sell myself on a much more intimate level.

I used to look at people who lived off foodbanks and other services and say…… I’d HATE to live like that. It is easier to work! AND IT IS! If only I could find a job that would support our modest needs. …. Never experienced anything like this in my life. WE are willing to WORK! In fact would relish the opportunity! Have the skills, the wisdom, the talents but………… NOTHING!

So for now, this is what I have to work with.

Thanks again, and sorry for getting so WORDY here. 🙂

Hope you’re having a GREAT day ( errrr. evening???)

      • Hard to imagine your situation in a First World country. Government should decrease arms spending and increase social welfare services. Priorities should be citizen’s well-being. It’s half hour till midnight and I am just fortunate to get through. Have to go off air now. Keep going and never surrender. Good night.
